How about that?

The Chiefs get their first win of the season! A shocking 4 FG’s and a saftey got them a 14-6 win over the horrible Washington Redskins. So, the Chiefs still aren’t that good, not even scoring a touchdown, but a win is a win and hopefully they can build on that. If they beat the Chargers next weekend they will be in third place in the AFC west. That is because the Chargers seem to never be able to live up to their potential. And the Broncos are still undefeated. You can’t deny this broncos team after back to back wins over quality opponents who were projected to win their divisions (Chargers and Patriots). Good job Broncos on proving us all wrong. Also, the Raiders came up with a HUGE and improbable win over the Philly Eagles. No one saw that coming. Congrats to them… what am i saying? I’ve complimented the Broncos and Raiders in the same post. The world is coming to an end.

The Seahawks laid a dud at home against the Arizona Cardinals. In my mind that puts the Cardinals right back up to being the team to beat in the NFC west. The Cards still have a tough schedule ahead starting next week on the road against the New York Giants, so we’ll see how they handle the pressure of the road on back to back weeks. Coming away with wins at Seattle and if they can win next week at New York would be very impressive. The 49ers had a bye week and will not go down without a fight. They have Michael Crabtree on the roster and he will play in their next game against the Texans, so I expect him to get into the action early and often as the Niners will be looking for more offensive spark. They will also get Frank Gore back.

How about those New Orleans Saints?! What a great win over the New York Giants! Drew Brees proves again that he is one of the best quarterbacks in the league. But of course Tom Brady didn’t want you to forget about him either, so he just threw for 6 TD’s, 5 in one quarter, in leading the Patriots to a 59-0 win over the Titans. I know the Broncos beat the Patriots, but I still believe that the Patriots are going to be the AFC representative in the super bowl this year. I think a Saints/Patriots superbowl (which was my original superbowl prediction this year) would be a fantastic game! Still plenty of time left with so many games to be played. You never know what will happen. The Vikings are still undefeated after barely scraping by the Ravens. The Vikes had a commanding lead before the Ravens came back in the 4th quarter and even had a chance to win the game on a last second FG. The kick sailed wide left and the Vikes remain undefeated. The Colts had a bye and also remain undefeated and will be a superbowl contender as well down the stretch. Can’t wait to see what happens in the coming weeks.

Onto college football. The first BCS poll was released and Florida takes the top spot followed by Alabama and then Texas. Florida barely came out with a win over Arkansas this weekend while Alabama calmly won another game handily and took over the #1 spot in the AP poll. Texas beat Oklahoma in a relatively close match up and as long as they keep winning they will be there at the end of the season in the national title hunt.

Nebraska really laid a rotten egg Saturday. With a chance to maybe take a jump into the top 10 with a win, they lose at home to Texas Tech 31-10. The offense really needs to get going if they wan to win the Big 12 north and have a chance to compete with Texas in the Big 12 championship game (if they make it that far). I still think they are the favorite to win the North (especially after KU dropped the ball at Colorado).

Well, that’s all for this weekend’s report. I will be at the Nebraska game this coming Saturday against Iowa St. It will be great to get back into the sea of RED! It’s been a while since i’ve been to a game and i’m pretty excited. Hopefully they’ll bounce back with a huge win! Happy Football to all.
